Troubleshooting

General Troubleshooting

Firstly, check that you have:

  • Created a database for your CMS
  • The correct MySQL username and password

Trouble with Database Extraction

Several people have had problems extracting the Quickstart at the ANGIE -> Database stage.

Solution

We've managed to replicate this and have determined that on that page you need to:

  1. Click on Advanced options
  2. Make sure that the "Force UTF-8 collation on tables" option is checked

This resolved the issue for us, and we understand it to be a bug in MySQL 5.6. We can't recreate it in MySQL 5.7 or later.

Quickstart Kickstarts Complain About No DB Support

If you use an old version of kickstart.php to avoid that issue. (year 2022) for compatibility reasons, It has come to our attention that the latest versions (year 2022) of kickstart.php that are packaged in the Quickstarts will sometimes report that there's no database support.

Solution

We believe that this might be a bug in the kickstart script. Every time we've just hit Next to go to the next step and the installation has proceeded as expected.

Important: When you're running the Quickstart, if you see that warning, just ignore it. In fact, we have always ignored any of the warnings on that panel and it was never been a problem.

Pre-installation Warnings

Yellow or Red Warnings

Sometimes the pre-installation page will throw up warnings (yellow) or even errors (red).

From Experience: We have installed hundreds of Quickstarts for clients and every time these warnings have not affected the installation or use of the software, so just ignore whatever warnings you may see here.We always do!.

Database Restoration Issues

MySQL 5.6 Specific Issues

As of June 2016, several people have had problems extracting the Quickstart at the ANGIE -> Database stage.

For MySQL 5.6 users:

  1. Go to the Database Restoration page
  2. Click on Advanced options
  3. Check the "Force UTF-8 collation on tables" option

This resolved the issue for us. We understand it to be a bug in MySQL 5.6 and we can't recreate it in MySQL 5.7 or later versions. Therefore if you can use an higher than 5.6 version of mysql, please do it.

Replace Data Page Issues

The "Replace data" page can sometimes be buggy, in that it doesn't appear to finish properly. However, it does perform its purpose.

What to Do

  1. Don't make any changes to the settings
  2. Just click Next
  3. Wait a few minutes (go make a cup of tea ☕ or coffee or a fresh juice dring!)
  4. Close the tab

The process will have completed successfully even if it doesn't look like it has.
